Apple Recruits Google Veterans As Vice President Of New Company AI

JAKARTA - Apple announced the resignation of John Giannandrea, Apple's Senior Vice President for Machine Learning and AI Strategies, and will serve as company adviser before retiring in the spring of 2026.

Giannandrea joined Apple in 2018 and is known as an important figure behind the company's AI strategy. He built a world-class team that handles core technology such as the Apple Foundation Models, Search and Knowledge, Machine Learning Research, to AI infrastructure.

At the same time, Apple also announced the joining of well-known AI researcher Amar Subramanya, as Vice President of AI, who will report to Craig Federighi.

In its new task, Subramanya will lead a number of strategic areas, including the Apple Foundation Models, machine learning research, as well as AI security and evaluation.

Subramanya previously served as vice president of corporate AI at Microsoft, and worked for 16 years as chief engineering officer for Assistant Gemini Google.

With his in-depth expertise in AI and ML research, the presence of Subramanya is considered very important for Apple's sustainable innovations and capabilities of Apple Intelligence in the future.
