GEMIKA Moves Quickly To Help Flood Victims In Sumatra

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Central Executive of the Greater Indonesia Christian Movement (PP GEKIRA), the Gerindra Party wing organization, Nikson Silalahi, asked administrators and cadres to accelerate the distribution of food packages in areas affected by the disaster in Sumatra.

This was conveyed by Nikson in a limited meeting through a zoom meeting with the management who is also the 17th Anniversary committee of GEKIRA at the PP GEKIRA Secretariat, Central Jakarta, Monday (1/12/2025).

"We are waiting for nothing. We are the GEkira management who will make this event a success. There are two activities for us. First, the celebration of the GEKIRA Anniversary which culminated on December 21, 2025 at the Nusantara TV Ballroom, NT Tower, "said Nikson.

Prior to the peak of the event, said Nikson, GEKIRA would distribute social assistance packages to victims of natural disasters in Sumatra and to church congregants of difficult economics in Jabodetabek who wanted to welcome Christmas, including in other provinces by regional GEIRA administrators.

The second activity is the celebration of the peak of the Gerindra Party's National Christmas in Sorong, Southwest Papua on January 17, 2026.

This Christmas celebration began with national seminars and dialogues, as well as the provision of social assistance to people in Papua.

Nikson further explained that the provision of this first phase of social assistance was specifically for church congregations who were victims of disasters in Sumatra as many as 1,000 packages by coordinating with the chairman of PD GEIRA North Sumatra and PD GEKI Aceh Chair.

"The handover of social assistance assistance will also be attended and handed over directly by the chairman of the GEkira Anniversary committee, Mr. Dimpos Tampubolon," said Nikson.

Furthermore, the provision of social assistance in Jabodetabek will be maximized as much as 2,000 food packages to church congregants whose economy is weak.

"Later, after the peak of GEKIRA's anniversary celebration, we will add more assistance for social assistance to victims of the Sumatran, Jabodetabek, and allocation of social assistance to Papua and other provinces," said Nikson.

The additional implementation of the provision of social assistance after the first phase to Sumatra and Jabodetabek, said Nikson, will be carried out after the peak of the GEIRA Anniversary event from December 21 to March 2026.

"Therefore, I ask all administrators to focus on the success of these two important GEIRA events," he said.

Meanwhile, Dimpos Tampubolon, Chairman of the 17th Anniversary Committee, GEIRA, said in the meeting that all administrators should move quickly to make this event a success so that the disaster victims can be immediately helped through the assistance of social assistance that GEKIRA will distribute.

"I invite all administrators to move quickly and unite to make our activities a success, which is part of GEKIRA's two important activities, namely the celebration of the GEKIRA Anniversary and the Gerindra Party's National Christmas celebration," said Dimpos.

Yeremias Ndoen, Secretary General of PP GEKIRA, added that in addition to providing basic food assistance, GEKIRA will also collect clothes that will be collected at the PP GEKIRA Secretariat for further distribution to communities who are victims of the Sumatra disaster.

"In addition to basic food assistance, we will also collect clothes that are suitable for use to be distributed to the people who are victims of the Sumatra disaster," he concluded.
