Minister Of Finance Purbaya: Achieving Economic Growth Of 6.5 Percent Is Not Very Difficult
He admitted that to achieve growth of 7 percent and 8 percent, additional efforts were needed, but according to him, the target of 6.5 percent is still relatively easy to achieve.
"In the future, how about it? Why do I dare to say, ah, if it grows by 6 percent, it's easy, yes, 6.5 percent is not very difficult. 7 percent, 8 percent only need extra effort," he said in the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) National Meeting, Monday, December 1.
Purbaya said that strengthening economic growth would be carried out by moving two machines at once, namely the government sector and the private sector.
According to him, this is based on the fact that after seeing the dynamics of the economy during the leadership of the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
Purbaya added that in the SBY era, the national economy was able to grow an average of 6 percent, higher than the 5 percent average growth in the Jokowi era, although the infrastructure development at that time was not as big as the Jokowi era.
He considered that this success was influenced by his life in the private sector, where the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) had a significant role.
"When Pak SBY's time, the economy grew 6 percent on average, Mr. Jokowi was 5 percent. Where's the harm? In Pak SBY's era, he didn't build a large amount of infrastructure. Why was it 6 percent, because he let the real sector grow, private sector grew, Kadin's role at that time would be big. Maybe most of the profit at that time," he explained.

Meanwhile, according to Purbaya, the private sector was less involved during the Jokowi period, because the government relied more on state spending and projects so that economic growth was in the range of 5 percent.
"During the time of Pak Jokowi during the time of Pak Jokowi, he built infrastructure everywhere but the private sector of the war was slightly due to the growth of only 5 percent. So in the era of Pak SBY, the private sector of the government was silent, during Pak Jokowi's era, the government was running, the private sector was relatively silent," he said.
Therefore, Purbaya said that now using both economic machines, namely the government and the private sector, reaching 6.5 percent growth is not too difficult.
