The tragic news caused the atmosphere inside the London Stadium to become gloomy, especially in the first half. However, Nuno did not believe it had a direct impact on the performance of his players.
"Yes, I think we all felt it, and were affected by the bad news we received. Billy Bonds is someone who means a lot to us as a club, a player with nearly 800 appearances, someone who means a lot to our supporters."
"I don't think it affects the team, but affects our moods in general. We want to do something else (appearing) that can honor Billy Bonds' memories in a better way. But unfortunately it didn't happen," Nuno said at a press conference after the match.
Meanwhile, midfielder Lucas Paqueta was sent off in a strange way after receiving two consecutive yellow cards for strong protests.
The incident occurred when West Ham was 0-1 behind, but Nuno declined to comment whether the incident harmed his team or not.
"It's hard to play against a team like Liverpool with one player less. I won't go any further. I want to talk to him (Paqueta) first, speak privately, and try to understand."
"I don't think it's fair to comment without the opportunity to talk to him," Nuno said.
