The Joint Team Is Still Looking For Victims Buried In Landslides In Talamau, West Sumatra

The joint team of the West Pasaman Regency Government (Pemkab), West Sumatra (West Sumatra), continues to search for four residents of TinggamNagari Sinuruik, Talamau District, who were buried by landslides.

"We will continue the search today. Of the five people who were buried, one person was found dead on Monday (1/12) afternoon," said Head of Ops for the West Pasaman Police, Kompol Muzhendra, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 1.

According to him, the joint team starting from the National Police, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Basarnas, TNI, sub-districts, nagari (village), and other parties, as well as the community, worked hand in hand to find victims in the landslides.

He admitted that the search for victims was difficult due to high landslide material and puddles around landslides. In addition, the search was carried out carefully because of subsequent landslides, although small scale continued to occur.

"If the weather is not possible then the search will continue on Tuesday (2/12) morning," he said.

The Coordinator of the Pasaman SAR Post (OSC) Novi Yurandi at Simpang Empat said the search was continuing, but the heavy terrain of the team's location had difficulty finding victims.

"One of the five victims on behalf of Yelma Yunita (41) has been found dead. Only four more people are still being searched," he said.

Landslides in the area occurred on Friday (28/11) which was triggered by high rainfall in the area.
