BPBD Facing Medan Is Difficult, Access To The Inland Of East Aceh Affected By Floods Is Still Completely Paralyzed
JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that access to remote areas in East Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, which has been affected by flooding, is still completely paralyzed.
Head of BPBD East Aceh Regency Ashadi said difficult terrain and unstable conditions made the operation to save people affected by flooding a challenge for officers.
"The number of victims is quite large and the affected areas are also wide. Access to remote areas, such as Pante Bidari, is completely paralyzed. We prioritize the evacuation of survivors while continuing to search for what is still missing," he said in East Aceh, Monday, as reported by Antara.
East Aceh Regent Iskandar Usman Al-Farlaty estimates that the death toll from flooding in the area will reach more than 30 people. Most of the victims who died were in Pante Bidari District.
"Yesterday, two victims had also been evacuated and in Peureulak Barat it was also found which had previously disappeared from being swept away by the current while rescuing other victims," he said.

Victims in the Idi Rayeuk area, East Aceh Regency, began cleaning their houses from mud material. Residents also found a body complete with a cloth that was dragged by the flood into the house.
"Initially, I thought the body was an ordinary flood material. After being examined, it turned out that the body. From the information we received, the body came from the cemetery, was dragged by the current to enter the house," said Sapri, the occupant of the house.
After being traced by the family of the body, found out that the body was buried a year ago, but the condition was still intact and for further burial of his family.
