33 Damaged Houses Hit By Tornado In Bandung, BPBD Distributes Paled Aid

BANDUNG The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bandung City noted that 33 houses were damaged by a tornado that hit Coblong District, Sekeloa Village, Sunday, November 30.

Head of BPBD Bandung City Didi Ruswandi said the damage to houses was in a number of RT and RW in the area.

"The results of the trial were fast while a total of 33 houses were reported to have been affected by tornadoes in several RTs and RWs," said Didi in Bandung, as reported by Antara, Monday, December 1.

There were no casualties in the incident. However, a number of houses were damaged, especially on the roof which collapsed due to the falling asbestos.

"We received a report from the regional authorities at 13.45 WIB and immediately dispatched a team to conduct a quick assessment to the location," said Didi.

He explained that most of the damage occurred to the roof, such as the asbestos that were released due to strong winds. Damage spread at several points.

"The damage to houses was light to heavy in RT 01 and RT 02 RW 04 as many as 23 houses. Meanwhile, in RT 06 to RT 08 RW 03 there were 9 houses, and in RT 02 RW 15 there were 1 house," he said.

BPBD officers have also coordinated with local government officials and volunteers to assist in the evacuation process of the affected building debris.

"We have carried out data collection and evacuation by coordinating with the sub-district officials," said Didi.

Currently, the Bandung City BPBD is focusing on distributing logistical assistance, especially tarpaulins, to cover the roofs of damaged residents' houses.

"We are preparing urgent needs, especially tarpaulins to cover the open roof of the house," he said.

Didi appealed to the public to remain vigilant, especially during heavy rains, and immediately take shelter in a safe place. He also asked residents not to easily believe in false information related to tornadoes.
