Since U Been Gone Brings Kelly Clarkson to Spotify's Billions Club

JAKARTA - Kelly Clarkson has set a new record by joining Spotify's Billions Club. This achievement was achieved thanks to her 2004 hit song, "Since U Been Gone," which surpassed one billion streams on the digital music platform.

"Since U Been Gone" is Clarkson's first track to reach a billion streams. Released as the second single from her second album, "Breakaway," the song was written and produced by the duo Max Martin and Dr. Luke.

Undeniably, this song is one of the most famous works by the first season of American Idol.

"Since U Been Gone" even reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2005. A year later, the song won a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

The music video was equally impressive. At the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, Clarkson won two awards: Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

In a recent interview with Apple Music, Clarkson opened up about the song. She admitted to loving the impact it had on people and how different the demo was when it was first sent to her.

"I love what it did for people, and I love that the demo that was sent to me was so different," Clarkson said.

But behind the scenes, the 43-year-old singer said the recording process wasn't as enjoyable.

"Behind the scenes, it wasn't so enjoyable because of circumstances I won't talk about. Because I'm not going to sell people out," she added.

Furthermore, Clarkson revealed her most memorable memory actually happened during the making of the music video.

"But I would say my favorite memory, if I'm being more positive about it, is the fact that I was able to come onto the set of the video and completely destroy an apartment. And that was my job," Clarkson said.

"That video is probably one of my favorite videos I've ever made, because I was literally just getting angry and just breaking things all day," she concluded.
