Shoei Launches A Sophisticated Helmet That Can Show Various Information Via Visor

JAKARTA - The well-known helmet manufacturer Shoei introduced GT-Air 3 Smart, an augmented reality (AR) technology helmet developed with EyeLights. This product is designed to display important information directly in front of the driver's eyes through the head up display (HUD) system.

Information such as speed, navigation, phone calls, to traffic radar warnings is projected through nano-OLED projectors that make visuals seem to be three meters in front of motorists. That way, drivers no longer need to look down to check the instrument panels.

All of this information comes to the GT-Air 3 Smart helmet glass. One of the advantages offered is the appearance of the HUD which remains clear even though it is used in direct sunlight, a problem that has often appeared on helmet-based HUD devices.

Shoei also provides GT-Air 3 Smart with an integrated audio and communication system. This helmet has speakers, microphones with a noise damping function, as well as universal intercoms that can be connected to various other brands.

All components, ranging from batteries, HUD modules, to cables, can be neatly integrated inside the helmet structure without the need for additional equipment outside the shell. EyeLights said that the battery life of this helmet can reach 10 hours of use in one charge.

Behind all its new technologies, GT-Air 3 Smart uses the AIM Shoei shell, a layered composite designed to distribute the impact force more effectively than a single-mated shell. This shell meets both DOT and ECE 2206 standards, meaning it passed the latest safety tests used in the United States and the European Union.

The air vent is facilitated by a wide and customizable vent located on the chin and top, with the air disposal hole positioned at the back to ensure smooth airflow.

The helmet is also equipped with an internal QSV-2 sun shield and a CNS-1C outer shield compatible with Pinlock, so drivers can add anti-butter insertions. Shoei has not confirmed the exact weight of the Smart model, but when compared to standard GT-Air 3 weighing 1.77 kg, it is likely that the weight will be slightly heavier.

GT-Air 3 Smart is marketed at a price of 1,199 US dollars, or equivalent to Rp. 20 million, and comes in six color choices. Shoei said deliveries to consumers were scheduled for June next year, as reported by Visordown, Monday, December 1.

The combination of HUD technology and internal communication systems makes GT-Air 3 Smart one of the choices of touring helmets that offer a balance between safety functions and easy information for motorists.
