Hajj's New Quota Reaps Restless, FK KBIHU: Finish Old Congregation Rights First
The Communication Forum for the Guidance Group of Hajj and Umrah (FK KBIHU) has asked the government to maintain the continuity of worship development and ensure that the portion of the old congregation is prioritized before the full implementation of the new quota policy.
The FK KBIHU Board of Trustees KH Agus Salim or Gus Lim said the blocking of the regular portion of Hajj supervisors had a direct impact on pilgrims who had waited years to leave.
"We work for the people and ensure that the worship of the congregation is legal and prosperous. Don't turn off the old quota. Finish it first, then go to qaul jadid," said Gus Lim in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, November 30.
He emphasized that the supervisor had been fostering pilgrims long before departure without calculating costs, so that blocking quotas was considered to interfere with the smoothness of manasik guidance.
Many congregants are not capable. They sell anything to leave. We accompanied without thinking about money," he said.
According to him, in every policy, there must be disadvantages, but FK KBIHU has been a barrier to turmoil so that there are no protests from the congregation in the field.
"Our congregation's dissatisfaction has subsided. We explain so that there will be no demonstrations, because our job is to contribute to the success of government policies," he said.
He said the main problem lies in the freezing of the supervisory quota that has lasted for years, although previously the mechanism was allowed and had been disbursed again by the government.
"We ask those who have deposited not to be crossed out. The old one let it run out first. The new deposit is closed, it's okay, but don't block the old one," he said.
Gus Lim reminded the moral aspect of the policy. Many guides hold congregational deposits for decades, and sudden freezing without a solution will be very detrimental to the congregation.
"If up to 18 years of waiting and then being frozen, it's very bitter. Don't let the congregation's money settle for decades without clarity," he said.
In the National Working Meeting III of the DPP FK KBIHU, the government through the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah explained that the regular Hajj quota scheme now follows Article 13 of Law no. 14/2025, changed from the proportion of Muslim population to the proportion of the waiting list.
