Supporting The Yogyakarta Street Musician Ecosystem, Menbud Provides Music Tool Assistance
YOGYAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture handed over various musical instruments to the Yogyakarta Street Music Institute (IMJ). The assistance was given directly by Menbud Fadli Zon as an effort to strengthen the ecosystem and community of musicians in Student City.
Road musicians are part of the city's creativity pulse. Through the support of these musical instruments and facilities, we want to provide space and opportunity for them to continue to grow," he said in a written broadcast.
The assistance provided includes an electric acoustic guitar, five-string bass, electric drums, active speakers, audio mixers, and supporting equipment such as microphone stands and speaker stands. This equipment is projected to increase exercise capacity, workshops, and production by IMJ members.

This step is in line with the recommendations of the Indonesian Music Conference (KMI), especially related to strengthening community-based music education and the lack of access to musical instruments for young talents. KMI assesses that non-formal learning spaces such as IMJ play an important role in a more inclusive music ecosystem.
IMJ Coordinator Andi Malewa expressed his appreciation for the support. "This is not just a tool assistance. This opens a new path for fellow musicians to study and work," he said.
This assistance also has an indirect economic impact, especially encouraging the movement of the local musical instrument and handicraft industry which is connected to community activities.
The handover ceremony was also attended by the Director General of Development, Utilization, and Culture Development Ahmad Mahendra. The Ministry of Culture emphasized support for IMJ as part of its commitment to expanding access to creative talent and ensuring that community space remains a safe and inclusive forum for the younger generation.
