High rainfall in a number of areas has again recorded a series of disasters. Flash floods and landslides hit a number of areas in Indonesia. After a few weeks ago hitting an area on the island of Java, this time floods and landslides occurred on the island of Sumatra massively. The high intensity of rain in the past week caused river water flow to overflow, and triggered ground movement in three provinces at once, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Based on data compiled by the Disaster Response Team Disaster Management Center (DMC) Dompet Dhuafa in the field, the coverage of the affected areas is very wide. In Aceh, floods inundated more than 16 regions, including Pidie, Aceh Besar, Aceh Tamiang, to South Aceh. Similar conditions occurred in North Sumatra where 11 areas such as Mandailing Natal, South Nias, to Central Tapanuli and South Tapanuli were completely paralyzed. Meanwhile, in West Sumatra, 15 areas including Padang Pariaman, Tanah Datar, Agam, to the South Coast suffered severe damage due to galodo and landslides. These conditions resulted in a number of houses being swept away by the current, roads and bridges being cut off, thousands of residents were forced to evacuate, as well as casualties.
