BTN And HKBP Initiate To Distribute Flash Flood Disaster Assistance To North Sumatra
JAKARTA - BTN Bersama Huria Kristen Batak Protestant (HKBP) initiated the distribution of aid for victims of flash floods and landslides in North Sumatra.
In the initiation, BTN provided assistance for the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program to people affected by flash floods and landslides in North Sumatra through HKBP. The initiation of the provision of assistance was symbolically carried out in Jakarta, Friday, November 28.
"We are also concerned about the flash flood that hit our brothers and sisters in Sumatra. Hopefully all affected residents will be given strength and the recovery process can take place well and quickly," said BTN President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu in a press release received by VOI editorial staff, Friday, November 28.
According to Nixon, the collaboration with HKBP in Sumatra, especially North Sumatra, is very strategic because HKBP has a reach to villages and has prepared aid posts at various points.
Thus, HKBP better understands field conditions and regional points that need support the most. BTN ensures that the distribution of aid is carried out through credible partners, considering the flood disasters that hit a number of areas in northern Sumatra so that assistance must be given immediately.
Until now, BTN has distributed aid to affected locations and has also scheduled direct visits to a number of areas such as Sibolga, Medan, Padang, Evidence of High, Langsa, Takengon and Pidie.
On Monday, December 1, BTN management will review conditions in Aceh and several locations in West Sumatra to ensure the distribution process runs optimally.
"BTN is committed to being present through real assistance and needed by residents, especially in the early days of disaster management when access to assistance and logistical needs is very crucial". Kta Nixon LP Napitupulu.
As a form of this commitment, BTN distributed assistance in the form of food packages, medicines, blankets, cleaning equipment, and other emergency needs. This assistance is channeled through the BTN Sumatra Region office by prioritizing the reach to the most affected points.
In the process of distributing aid, BTN also collaborates with local governments, the TNI, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and elements of the local community to ensure that assistance can be received quickly and on target.
