250 Houses In Nagan Raya Severely Damaged By Flash Floods

JAKARTA - The Nagan Raya Regency Government, Aceh, has confirmed that as many as 250 houses in the local district were badly damaged and destroyed due to flash floods on Thursday (26/11).

"The damage caused by flash floods in the Nagan Raya highlands is very severe, many people have lost their homes due to this natural disaster," said Nagan Raya Regent Aceh Teuku Raja Keumangan as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 29.

According to him, the impact of the damage to hundreds of houses in the area, so far around 2,500 residents in the area have chosen to flee to the highlands because they have lost their homes.

The public is also traumatized because the natural disaster of flash floods has damaged all public facilities, including houses that have been inhabited by the community.

As a first step, said Teuku Raja Keumangan, the Nagan Raya Regency Government through BPBD has also installed refugee tents and opened public kitchens.

The installation of this tent also aims to accommodate the people who are currently still displaced because they have permanently lost their homes.

Regent Teuku Raja Keumangan said that in addition to destroying hundreds of residents' houses, the natural disaster of flash floods that occurred in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District also damaged two school units, mosques, police posts, and the TNI.

Natural disasters also damaged the sub-district sub-district and sub-district government offices, including cutting off access to the Nagan Raya-Aceh Tengah bridge, thus isolated the local area.

"Currently, local governments are still trying to collect data on the damage experienced by the community due to flash floods, while ensuring whether or not residents are victims or missing due to this natural disaster," said Regent Teuku Raja Keumangan.
