8 Youths Brawl At Roxy Flyover Arrested By Police
Central Jakarta Metro Police arrested eight youths along with two sharp sickle-type weapons for being involved in a brawl under the Roxy Flyover, Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Saturday morning.
"Our team received reports from residents regarding the brawl at the location. After visiting the scene, the team managed to arrest eight youths who were involved in a brawl and secured the sharp weapons they were carrying," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes KBP Susatyo Condro Purnomo as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 29.
According to him, the eight youths who were arrested by officers each had the initials DP (21), AS (18), AK (19), FA (21), MT (16), RS (14), RF (16), and MA (16).
"This shows our seriousness in taking action against all forms of security disturbances in Central Jakarta," he said.
The police appealed to parents to be more active in educating and supervising their children. Don't get the wrong interaction.
"The role of parents is very important to prevent children from falling into harmful actions," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Samapta Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol William Alexander, added that patrols were carried out quickly, so that potential riots could be prevented.
After knowing the team's arrival, he said, the perpetrators tried to escape. Thanks to good coordination, the team managed to arrest them and bring evidence to the Central Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.
"The evidence that was secured was two sickle blades," he said.
The perpetrators were threatened with Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951, with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison for carrying or controlling sharp weapons in public.
