North Sumatra Chaoticly Hit By Disasters, Bobby Nasution Strives To Overcome Fuel Scarcity

North Sumatra (North Sumatra) Governor Bobby Nasution said the provincial government (Pemprov) took quick steps in an effort to overcome the scarcity of fuel oil (BBM) in a number of North Sumatra areas as a result of extreme weather.

"Yesterday, we coordinated it, because in Belawan the waves are high, the tankers already exist, but they cannot be connected, loading the fuel," said Bobby at the Soewondo Air Force Base, Medan, North Sumatra, as reported by ANTARA.

The governor explained that this condition was triggered by bad weather that hit the North Sumatra region in the last few days.

As a result, the fuel tanker has been in Belawan waters, but the high waves have caused the ship to not be able to dock at the Belawan Harbor pier.

Therefore, the provision of fuel in the North Sumatra region is imported from nearby areas such as Pekanbaru, Riau Province.

"There are about 30 trucks from Pekanbaru that are carrying fuel to the North Sumatra region," he said.

Bobby also hopes that the weather and waves at sea will improve soon, so that the fuel tanker can immediately dock at the Belawan Harbor pier, Medan City, North Sumatra.

Meanwhile, a number of residents of Medan City complained about the scarcity of fuel at a number of gas stations due to being affected by extreme weather.

Turnip, a motorcyclist at a gas station, Jalan Pancing Medan, said a number of gas stations in Medan City and Deli Regency were closed.

Head of the Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region I Medan Hendro Nugroho said extreme weather in a number of areas in recent days was the impact of the Senyar tropical cyclone.

The cyclone is the seeds of tropical cyclone 95B which has grown since November 21, 2025 in the eastern waters of Aceh, the Malacca Strait.

"As a result in the past week, the North Sumatra region has been hit by rain every day," said Hendro.

He reminded fishermen, shipping operators, and coastal communities to pay attention to information on high wave forecasts so that they can avoid risky areas and adjust activities at sea.

"This tropical cyclone has an impact on increasing intensity and triggering extreme weather in the form of heavy to extreme rain, high waves, and strong winds in the North Sumatra region," explained Hendro.
