In The Context Of Planting Indonesian Tree Day, PLN Plants 5,000 Mangroves In Angke Kapuk

PLN UID Jakarta Raya planted 5,000 mangroves or mangroves in the Angke Kapuk Forest, North Jakarta, Friday (28/11), as an effort to strengthen the green belt and withstand abrasion that continues to erode the coast of the capital city. This action was held with the DKI Jakarta City Parks and Forests Service (Distamhut) in the context of the 2025 Indonesian Tree Planting Day (HMPI).

The planting of mangroves with the theme Roots of Energy' is carried out in a conservation area covering an area of 374.7 hectares which has been a natural fort for the coast of Jakarta. The management of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, representatives of PLN units in Jakarta, and the North Jakarta City Government attended the activity.

General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Moch. Andy Adhaminordin, emphasized that mangrove planting is a concrete step for PLN to maintain coastal ecosystems while aligning the energy transition with the principle of sustainability.

"Investment of 5,000 mangroves today is a real step to build a stronger coastal ecosystem. Efforts to maintain the coastline must be in line with the commitment of clean energy and the implementation of ESG," said Moch. Andy Adhaminordin as quoted in a written statement received Friday, November 28.

PLN also handed over 100 crab seeds and a pilah trash can as an additional support for mangrove sustainability education.

The head of the DKI Jakarta Distamhut, M. Fajar Sauri, appreciated the consistency of PLN which he considered to have directly contributed to the recovery of the ecosystem.

"This is not a ceremonial. This is a real contribution to facing climate change and maintaining the Angke Kapuk green belt," said Fajar.

This action also involved the environmental community and ASN Distamhut DKI. The participants also received education about the role of mangroves as coastal protectors, natural filters, and important biota habitats.

PLN UID Jakarta Raya hopes that cross-sectoral collaboration will continue to be strengthened to create a more resilient and sustainable coast of Jakarta. This action is part of PLN's contribution in maintaining the ecosystem and resilience of the city environment.
