BGN Sends 1,500 MBG Packages For Disaster Victims In North Sumatra
JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) through the Aek Pining Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), Batang Toru, South Tapanuli and SPPG Silangok Kilang Papan, South Tapanuli, distributed 1,591 Free Nutrition Food Packages (MBG) to flood and landslide victims in North Sumatra.
The two SPPGs sent MBG packages to flood victims in three locations, namely Batu Horing, Batu Hua, and Sipurik Districts. The distribution of aid to the flood victims posts was carried out on Wednesday, (26/11).
"Previously, BGN through SPPG in the regions had sent MBG assistance in Bekasi and Bali when it experienced a flood disaster. This is included in the President's direction so that SPPG can also play a role in becoming an emergency kitchen that is ready to supply food to victims of natural disasters," said Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau of BGN Khairul Hidayati as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 28.
Hida also said that the distribution of MBG to flood victims has so far seen the situation and conditions in each region, considering the difficult access so that the SPPG operation is also constrained.
He also appreciated the efforts made by the Indonesian Development Movers (SPPI) in the regions and local volunteers in distributing aid.
"We express our gratitude and high appreciation to SPPI friends and volunteers in the regions. With the persistence of our friends breaking through floods and difficult access, aid packages can be conveyed to the victims well," said Hida.
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the South Tapanuli Region, Wan Apriyanti Lubis, explained the obstacles experienced by the SPPG in distributing MBG packages.
"So far, the shipment of MBG from the two SPPGs has only been done once. This is also related to the difficulty of getting raw materials because some access is closed due to flooding," he said.
MBG packages distributed in the form of ready-to-eat food with a complete menu in the form of fried bidhoons, ceplok eggs, fried beans, caulent carrots and oranges.
"Meanwhile, the SPPG of the Tapsel Silangok, Kilang Papan presents MBG in the form of white rice, tilapia cerempies, tofu, vegetable tumis (beaut jarung, carrots and beans), and wine," said Wan.
BGN hopes that the distribution of MBG packages can help and entertain the grieving victims a little. This effort is a form of BGN's commitment to providing maximum service to the community, both registered daily beneficiaries, victims of natural disasters who receive MBG assistance packages, and the public at large.
