Attacking South Syrian Village, Israeli Troops Kill 13 People

JAKARTA - Israeli forces in southern Syria stormed the village and opened fire when they were intercepted by residents on Friday. 13 people were reported killed.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry said the attack was a "terrible slaughter" and women and children were among those killed.

The Syrian government's news agency SANA said Israeli forces entered the village of Beit Jin with the aim of detaining local residents and firing aggressively after being intercepted by residents. Dozens of families fled the area.

As reported by the Associated Press, Friday, November 28, Israel said it carried out operations following intelligence information to arrest suspects from Jamaa Islamiya, or Islamic Groups, operating in Beit Jin to attack Israeli civilians.

During the raid, several militants opened fire on Israeli troops, injuring six soldiers who were evacuated to the hospital.

Israeli forces opened fire on militants and also retaliated with air support, the military said. The operation was completed, all suspects were arrested and several militants killed.
