Member Of The Nunukan DPRD Strong Criticism Of Inequality In The Border Area Budget, Will Not Agree To RKA PUPR Nunukan 2026
NUNUKAN The working meeting of Commission III of the Nunukan DPRD with the PUPR Service took place strainedly after members of the Nunukan DPRD from the fourth electoral district, Donal, expressed strong protests against the inequality in development and allocation of the 2026 PUPR budget.
Donal assessed that the hinterland in electoral district IV was still far behind even though Nunukan Regency was 26 years old. He also said that a number of sub-districts do not yet have adequate road and electricity access.
"At our place, people still use lamplights. There are no roads, no electricity," said Donal, Friday, November 28.
He also highlighted the survey budget for road conditions allocated Rp. 300 million and a bridge survey of around Rp. 100 million in RKA PUPR 2026.
"This activity does not provide tangible results for the people of the interior," said Donal.
"The survey continues every year, but does not lead to development. Money comes out, there is still no road," continued the PKB politician Nunukan.
In addition, Donal also mentioned that budget allocations that tend to concentrate development are only in urban areas. He gave an example of Nunukan, a city that gets a portion of up to Rp16'17 billion, while the interior area only receives Rp3'4 billion.
Lumbis Ogong didn't even reach Rp1 billion. This pattern makes the hinterland even more lagging behind," he said.
In addition to infrastructure, Donal continued, government service facilities in several sub-districts are also in inadequate conditions.
"For example, the Lumbis Ogong sub-district office, which is said to be in a damaged condition and without official housing for the apparatus, this condition hinders basic services to the community," he explained.
Donal also asked the DPUPR to be more proactive in fighting for budget support from the central and provincial governments, including for the construction of access to Krayan Malinau.
"A comprehensive change must be made to RKA PUPR 2026 in the discussion at the Budget Agency. If it is not revised, I will cross out all programs that do not touch the community," he said.
