Jalan Tarutung Sibolga Breaks Up, Deputy Minister Of Public Works: Only 30 Kilometers Can Be Boiled
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) handled Jalan Tarutung 'Sibolga in North Sumatra Province which was cut off due to floods and landslides in the last few days.
As a result, the area of North Tapanuli Regency, Central Tapanuli to Sibolga City, which is connected by a road about 60 kilometers (km), is isolated.
Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti said the emergency response in the form of opening the access to Tarutung Street Sibolga is currently only about 30 km.
"We have been able to penetrate 30 kilometers from 60 kilometers, others have not been able to," Diana told reporters at her office, Friday, November 28.
Diana said that the update of information regarding landslide points and affected infrastructure from the local Public Works Ministry Hall is still ongoing. Currently, there are 30 landslide points along Jalan Tarutung 'Sibolga.
In addition to Jalan Tarutung Sibolga, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) also asked the Ministry of Public Works to handle Tarutung Sipirok Street which stretches from North Tapanuli to South Tapanuli for almost 70 kilometers.
"I called the Head of the Street Hall who was there to immediately direct the heavy equipment. Yesterday I couldn't because the trailer tools there were also difficult because I couldn't pass. So, now I have to wait for it to recede first, yes, then the tools will be lowered," explained Diana.
The Ministry of Public Works allocated a budget of IDR 351.83 billion to support disaster emergency preparedness and response programs throughout 2025.
The budget is used to strengthen public infrastructure, accelerate emergency handling and support post-disaster recovery throughout Indonesia.

The emergency response budget allocation of the Ministry of Public Works in 2025 is IDR 351.83 billion, each managed by the Directorate General of Water Resources IDR 300 billion and the Directorate General of Highways IDR 51.8 billion.
In addition, it has also mobilized 5,755 units of heavy equipment, 382,044 logistical materials and deployed 3,455 personnel on standby in the field.
As of early November 2025, the realization of budget absorption reached Rp261.9 billion or around 74.4 percent, with a main focus on handling hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods and landslides.
