Floods Make Chili Selling Prices In West Aceh Increase By IDR 250 Thousand/Kg
JAKARTA - Flood disasters in a number of areas in Aceh have resulted in the price of cayenne pepper at the Meulaboh Business Market Complex, West Aceh Regency reaching Rp250 thousand/kg from the previous Rp40 thousand/kg figure.
"The increase in the price of cayenne pepper made us complain, the increase was very sharp," said Zulhelmi, a resident of Meulaboh, West Aceh to ANTARA, Friday, November 28.
In addition to cayenne pepper, ANTARA's monitoring, the price of red chili also soared at a price of Rp. 200 thousand/kg from the previous Rp. 50 thousand/kg.
Meanwhile, the selling price of chicken eggs moved up at Rp. 60 thousand/pand contents 30 grains from the previous selling price of Rp. 48 thousand/papan to Rp. 52 thousand/papan. The commodity for shallots is also sold at Rp. 60 thousand/kg from the previous Rp. 50 thousand/kg, and garlic at Rp. 40 thousand/kg.
Zulhelmi hopes that the government will immediately intervene to overcome the increase in the selling price of kitchen spices so as not to cause panic in the community, due to the high selling price of foodstuffs.
Head of the West Aceh District Food Service, Kamarlisnur, who was confirmed separately, confirmed the increase in a number of foodstuffs, especially kitchen spices in West Aceh due to the breakdown of the supply chain due to natural disasters that hit a number of areas in Aceh and North Sumatra.
"The rising selling price of kitchen spices due to supplies from Central Aceh and North Sumatra has been stopped due to natural disasters," he said.
Currently, the West Aceh Regency Government is trying to prepare steps to hold cheap food in the community, so that people get food at affordable prices because it has been subsidized by the local government.
"Starting Saturday (29/11) tomorrow we will prepare cheap food," he said.
The West Aceh Regency Government appealed to the public not to panic about the increase in the selling price of kitchen spices, and asked traders not to take advantage by taking advantage of the momentum of natural disasters to increase the selling price of basic commodities, said Kamarlisnur.
