Competing In Europe, Chery Tiggo 8 Wins Two International Awards

JAKARTA Chery continues to expand the choice of reliable vehicles that suit consumer needs, and these efforts have again yielded sweet results. Its flagship model, Tiggo 8, won international recognition as 2026 Car of the Year. Not only that, but the plug-in hybrid variant of Tiggo 8 CSH was also awarded the 'Hybrid Hero' title by Carow thanks to the blending of performance, efficiency, and technology capable of rivaling even some models of the European premium brand.

This award is the result of Carow's objective evaluation which assesses that Tiggo 8 is superior in quality as well as value-for-money. The SUV is considered capable of providing a premium driving experience with complete features, but still comes at a more competitive price than its European rivals.

Head of Brand Department of PT Chery Sales Indonesia, Rifkie Setiawan, emphasized that this achievement in the UK shows Chery's ability to compete in a very tight global market.

"This award further strengthens our belief that the innovation, comfort, and technology we present are truly relevant to consumer needs in various countries," he said in an official statement, Friday, November 28.

As a global SUV, the Tiggo 8 is designed to meet the needs of modern families. The cabin room is relieved with 5+2 and 12 seat settings offering high flexibility, while the baggage capacity reaches 1,930 liters. The soft-touch material that dominates 79 percent of the cabin area, 10 point massage features and power leg rest for passengers ahead, to a premium audio system of 12 speakers provides a comfortable and classy driving experience.

For the hybrid variant, Tiggo 8 CSH is equipped with the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology that relies on a fifth-generation hybrid engine with a thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent, DHT's electrical transmission without gear displacement, and a hybrid battery. This combination generates a distance of more than 1,100 km with a fuel consumption of only 5.19 L/100 km even when the battery is empty.

In terms of technology, this SUV is equipped with an 8155 Qualcomm chip with a system response of less than 30 ms, a 15.6-inch screen, and a 540-degree viewing camera that increases comfort and security.

Regarding safety, Tiggo 8 has won five-star ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP. The reinforced body structure with 65 percent of high-power steel and the presence of 10 airbags including the far-side and airbag knee provide optimal protection. In addition, 19 ASIS features are embedded to assist the driving, maneuvering, and parking processes, in line with Chery's philosophy: 'Safety, for Family.'
