Government Sends 100 Starlinks For Disaster Victims In Aceh, North Sumatra, And West Sumatra
JAKARTA - Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communication and Digital together with cellular operators are improving communication infrastructure affected by natural disasters in Aceh, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) and North Sumatra (North Sumatra), the government is again sending aid in the form of 100 Starlinks.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno and Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya sent the aid to the disaster area on Friday, November 28 from Halim Perdana Kusuma airport.
This starlink device is very important, considering that floods and landslides have caused telecommunications services around affected areas to experience disruption.
Based on information from the Ministry of Communication and Digigi, disruption of telecommunications services caused by flooding has resulted in the death of 16 sites or 0.43% of the total 3,739 existing sites in West Sumatra Province.
Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, disruption of telecommunications services caused by flooding has resulted in the death of 495 sites or about 5.15% of the total 9,612 existing sites.
Meanwhile in Aceh, Komdigi reported that at least disruptions to telecommunications services caused by flooding had an impact on the death of 799 sites or about 23.40% of the total 3,414 existing sites.
Site who was affected and experienced a breakdown (down) was caused by the cut off of electricity from PLN and transmission disruptions.
Currently, cellular operators are working to restore sites affected by the cut-off of electricity from PLN by using generators as alternative power supply until the electricity returns to normal.

Mobile operators have also made efforts to restore down sites due to transmission interference by routing to several points that can still be served and are currently still being verified for further checking.
Meanwhile, Komdigi through the Directorate of Digital Infrastructure Control continues to monitor the quality of telecommunication services after floods and landslides that hit Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.
