TNI Deploys 7 Helicopters To Accelerate Assistance Logistics To North Sumatra, South Sumatra, And Aceh
The TNI deployed seven helicopters to accelerate the distribution of logistical assistance to flood-affected areas in North Sumatra, South Sumatra, and Aceh.
This was conveyed by the Commander of the National Air Operations Command (Pangkoopsudnas) Marsdya TNI Minggit Tribowo at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, Friday, November 28.
"We prepare three Caracal helicopters, then two Army helicopters, two Navys," said Minggit, quoted from Antara.
He explained that a number of land access to the flood location could not be passed because it was buried by landslides. Therefore, distribution through the air is considered the most effective to reach remote areas and areas that are difficult to access.
According to Minggit, the logistics departing from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base will first be lowered at the nearest airport or lanud from the flood location. Furthermore, the helicopters that have been alerted will bring the aid directly to the affected points.
Several helicopters are said to have started to enter flood areas, including Sibolga, North Sumatra.
"Today, the helicopter entered Sibolga yesterday," he said.
He hopes that all helicopters can continue to operate optimally so that the aid distribution process can proceed quickly until the situation recovers.
On the same occasion, Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya said the government also deployed four Indonesian Air Force transport aircraft to carry logistics to North Sumatra, South Sumatra, and Aceh.
The types of assistance sent include 150 refugee tents, 64 rubber boats for evacuation, generators, and about 100 communication tools to restore network access at the disaster site.
"The tents, rubber boats, generators, communication tools are all dispatched today," said Teddy.
In addition, the government also sends ready-to-eat food, health workers, and medicines for the needs of survivors. Assistance will be deployed at the nearest airport such as Padang, Silangit (Tapanuli), Banda Aceh, and Lhokseumawe before being continued by land or air.
