Minister Of Culture Asks BPK XXI To Remap Cultural Sites In North Maluku
TERNATE - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized the need to accelerate the promotion of culture in North Maluku when reviewing the Office of the Cultural Preservation Center (BPK) for the XXI Region of North Maluku, Thursday (27/11). In his direction, the Minister of Education emphasized the importance of integrated strategies to protect, develop, and utilize various cultural sites spread across the region.
"North Maluku has so many historical sites that we not only need to know, but we also need to develop and take advantage of them," said Fadli Zon. He emphasized that the presence of the Ministry of Culture must be the motor of accelerating the development of the cultural ecosystem.
The Minister of Culture also highlighted the importance of the love and dedication of cultural actors in carrying out the President's mandate. "If we love culture, then working here is a form of dedication," he said.
Fadli emphasized that preservation does not stop at the protection aspect. There are stages of utilization, development to cultural diplomacy that must be strengthened. Therefore, he asked BPK Region XXI to re-map all cultural sites and work smarter in the available budget limit.

During the full day's visit, the Minister of Education and Culture reviewed a number of historical points, ranging from the Ternate Kedaton, Tidore Kedaton, Sultan Nuku Cemetery, to Tahola Fort and Oranje Fort. According to him, the existence of these sites is an important asset to build a sustainable cultural ecosystem.
He also encouraged the strengthening of museums and historical sites as educational spaces and cultural economy. "Beteng can become a museum, it can become an open-air museum. These sites can be developed into cultural tourist destinations that provide income and strengthen the cultural ecosystem," he said.
This visit marks the Ministry of Culture's commitment to strengthen governance, historical narratives, and activation of cultural sites so that the benefits are felt directly by the people of North Maluku.
