Minister Of Religion Hopes There Is The Best Solution To The PBNU Conflict
JAKARTA - Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar hopes that there will be the best solution related to conflicts that occur within the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board between the general chairman and Rais Syuriyah ranks. "We hope for the best," said Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar at UIN Jakarta, Thursday.
The conflict began when the results of the Syuriyah Daily Risalah asked PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf to resign from his position and be given a deadline of 3x24 hours.
Not long after, a Circular (SE) Number 4785/PB.02/AII.10.01/99/11/2025 appeared stating that Yahya Cholil Staquf was no longer the General Chair of PBNU as a follow-up to Syuriyah's daily minutes.
The SE was signed by Deputy Rais Aam PBNU Afifuddin Muhajir and Khatib PBNU Ahmad Tajul Mafakir. In the letter, it was stated that YahyaCholil Staquftau Gus Yahya no longer had the status of General Chair as of November 26, 2025.
On the basis of this decision, Yahya Cholil Staquf no longer has the authority and right to use the attributes, facilities, and/or things attached to the position of Chairman of PBNU.

For the next time, during the vacancy of the general chairman, the leadership of PBNU is entirely in the hands of Rais Aam as the supreme leader of NU.
Responding to this, PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf asked for an internal polemic in the management of the organization which led to his dismissal as general chairman to be resolved together at the NU Congress.
"Let's solve it more respectfully. Whatever the problem is, if something is still unresolved, let's finish it through the congress, so that organizational integrity is maintained, organizational integrity is not tarnished," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of PBNU, Ahmad Tajul Mafakhir, said that Yahya Cholil Staquf could object to the decision to be removed from the General Chair of PBNU to the PBNU Tahkim Council.
"There is the Tahkim Council now. If for example there is a dispute in terms of decision making, it can be submitted to the Tahkim Council," said Tajul Mafakhir when confirmed from Jakarta.
