Ticket Sales Soar, 20 Percent Discount Of PELNI Triggers Order Explosion Ahead Of Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) recorded a significant increase in ship ticket sales. This jump was triggered by a 20 percent economic stimulus discount for the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) holiday periods.

This program applies to the purchase of ship tickets starting November 21, 2025, with a scheduled departure from December 17, 2025 to departure January 10, 2026.

Based on ticket sales data from November 21 to 26, 2025 as of 12.00 WIB, there are five ports with the highest sales, namely Batam (5,154 pax); Makassar (1,390); Sorong (1,326); Belawan (1,209); and Tanjung Priok (1,099).

Vice President of PELNI Passenger Transport Business Presda Simangasing said that this data will continue to grow along with the Nataru period economic stimulus discount program.

"A surge of up to 44 percent in Batam and an average of more than 20 percent in other ports in just six days is proof that this 20 percent discount is very effective in encouraging people's purchasing power," said Presda in an official statement, Thursday, November 27.

Presda said this discount stimulus targets 405,881 passengers during the upcoming Nataru period and ticket prices will return to normal rates after the stimulus quota is sold out.

"We hope that this policy can be sustainable and expanded during other holiday periods so that ships will become the main choice for Indonesians to travel long distances at affordable prices," he said.

PELNI is committed to continuing to prioritize shipping safety even though the number of passengers has increased significantly. Presda said that all PELNI fleets that will operate in the Nataru period have undergone routine maintenance, intensive safety training for crew members, as well as thorough inspection of passenger safety equipment.

"We also urge prospective passengers to order tickets early through official platforms and arrive on time at ports with appropriate identities," said Presda.
