JAKARTA Anthony Sinisuka Ginting's men's singles badminton admitted that he was nervous when he prepared to welcome his first child who was likely to be born in the near future.

Ginting said that currently the age of his wife, Mitzi Abigail Purnama, has been 38 weeks so it's just a matter of time.

"We have prepared a name. The closer the scene. Yesterday we finished checking too," Ginting said at a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

As a future father, Ginting admitted that he had prepared himself carefully to welcome his first baby. One of them he had to learn to change baby diapers.

Ginting said that preparing to become a father was not at all easy. He admitted that he was much more afraid to be a father than to prepare himself for the competition.

"The development is all good, thank God everything is okay. So, just waiting for the signs, contracting all kinds. Asking for prayers and support, I hope everything goes well," he said.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist previously decided to miss the 2025 Australian Open last week because he was preparing to welcome the birth of his first child.

In the midst of his busy schedule to welcome his first child, Ginting will also be preparing to face the Indonesia Masters at the beginning of the year, the Super 500 BWF tournament which he has won twice.

In this year's calendar Ginting is haunted by many injuries, thus missing many tournaments. After recovering from injury, he also has not found the best form so that the majority return home in the first half of several tournaments he participated in.
