COVID-19 Update As Of May 24: 5,907 New Cases, 93,393 Active Cases
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) released additional positive cases of the latest COVID-19 as of today. A total of 65,496 specimens were examined with the result that there were 5,907 new positive cases of COVID-19.
"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was found in Indonesia reached 1,781,127 people and active cases of 93,393 cases," as quoted from the Ministry of Health data, Monday, May 24.
Cases recovered today increased by 5,234 cases, bringing the total to 1,638,279 people cured. Then, the number of positive confirmation cases that died increased by 127 people and a total of 49,455 people.
The province with the most new cases was in West Java with 1,420 cases and a total of 306,807 cases. Followed by Central Java which has 905 new cases with a total of 194,542 cases. DKI Jakarta has 819 new cases and a total of 424,828 cases. Then, Riau has 665 new cases and a total of 55,525 cases.
The province with the most cured cases today belongs to West Java with an increase of 1,450 cases recovered. Followed by Central Java with an increase of 886 cases recovered, Riau Islands with an increase of 313 cases recovered, and DKI Jakarta with an increase of 302 cases recovered.
There are three provinces that reported no new cases today. The provinces that reported zero new cases were North Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.
In addition, the number of specimens examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 16,125,144.
"The positive result per number of specimens examined or positivity rate this week was 14.81 percent," he wrote.
For the number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspek cases, it is recorded at 90,465 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.
Currently, 14,919,589 people have been vaccinated for the first dose of COVID-19 and 9,896,982 people have been vaccinated in the second dose. Meanwhile, the total vaccination target of phase 1 and 2 reached 40,349,049 people.
