Rano Karno Claims Concert Promoters Are Now More Lirik JIS Than GBK
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno claims that currently many music concert promoters are looking at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) as a venue rather than the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK). This was revealed by Rano after communicating with the promoters.
"If we conduct a survey, I visited almost 20 promoters yesterday. Perhaps their survey was the fastest in Java, if they wanted to perform in Jakarta, they chose the JIS Stadium with all their problems," said Rano in a focus group discussion (FGD) related to the development of the JIS area at the Jatibaru Technical Service building, Central Jakarta, Thursday, November 27.
According to Rano, JIS is a stadium that has the closest building structure between spectators and concert performers compared to other stadiums in Indonesia.
"JIS is a favorite place, sorry, they much prefer JIS to GBK to show a show. Because JIS is an ultimate, close, there is no distance. GBK is far away, the stage is in the middle, the audience is far away, so it doesn't feel like it," said Rano.
Therefore, the high interest of entertainment event organizers to use JIS is a motivation for the DKI Provincial Government to improve the shortage of infrastructure and supporting facilities in the international standard stadium area owned by Jakarta.
One of them is building a bridge that connects the JIS area with Ancol. Given the lack of parking access at JIS, this bridge will make it easier for stadium visitors to park their vehicles in Ancol.
"That's why we will build a pedestrian bridge. So the parking area will later be in Ancol to go to JIS," said Rano.
According to Rano, the development of the international standard stadium in Tanjung Priok is one of the priorities of the DKI Provincial Government. This is because JIS has now become the headquarters of the Persija Jakarta football club and is one of the attractions of the city.
Meanwhile, the DKI Provincial Government currently also has other tasks such as the implementation of flood control programs such as river normalization to the construction of coastal and sea safety embankments.
"The question is, when do we want to finish it? While this is not finished, Jakarta already has a Giant Sea Wall assignment. This means that this needs to be discussed here. Although perhaps natural walls when the Giant Sea Wall starts," explained Rano.
Therefore, Rano emphasized that there is still homework that has hampered the development of the stadium area. In fact, he assessed that the construction of JIS in the era of former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was an important achievement for Jakarta.
"We are grateful that in the era of Governor Anies building the JIS stadium, but indeed we also see that there are many obstacles that cannot be completed because there are phases that are not finished, so they are stuck," said Rano.
Furthermore, Rano hopes that the FGD held today can produce concrete recommendations to improve public transportation services, regional connectivity, and JIS integration with various modes of transportation.
