DPR Will Review The Decree Of The Minister Of Transportation Regarding Special Airports To Serve Foreign Flights

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR RI from the PKB faction, Abdullah highlighted the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 38 of 2025 which allowed special airports that previously only operated domestically, can now operate serving overseas flights.

He questioned the benefits and risks of the regulation for special airports, such as airports owned by PT Indonesia Marowali Industrial Park (IMIP) located in the Marowali mining area, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng).

"The DPR must carefully review the Minister of Transportation's decision for the special airport. The Minister of Transportation's decision does bring in many benefits or even a lot of harm? Must be studied comprehensively," Abdullah told VOI, Thursday, November 27.

The head of the Faction Group (Kapoksi) at the legal commission also encouraged the Indonesian Police (Polri) to investigate activities at IMIP airport immediately. This is because state officials such as immigration, customs, police and TNI members do not operate to monitor the airport.

The head of the Faction Group (Kapoksi) at the legal commission also encouraged the Indonesian Police (Polri) to investigate activities at IMIP airport immediately. This is because state officials such as immigration, customs, police and TNI members do not operate to monitor the airport.

"I encourage the National Police to immediately investigate IMIP airport. This is to ensure that all activities that take place there are in accordance with applicable legal regulations," said the PKB legislator from the Central Java VI electoral district.

Abdullah explained that the investigation carried out by the National Police was intended to audit various activities at the airport, starting from the movement of goods, movement of people and challenges as well as threats to security and defense.

"Do not let the movement of goods, people's movements and challenges and threats that have the potential or have harmed the state," said the man who is familiarly called Abduh.

In conducting investigations, continued Abduh, the National Police must also collaborate with various parties. For example with the Director General of Immigration, Customs, TNI and the Ministry of Transportation.

"This airport activity involves many parties and complexes, the Police cannot only move on their own to carry out investigations, maybe by forming a task force or task force," he said.

As a first step, Abduh stated that he would encourage Commission III to summon the National Police to discuss the issue of the IMIP airport. The National Police, said Abduh, will be asked to explain their experience and perspective on IMIP airport in accordance with applicable regulations.

"From the police information provided at the meeting, it will be followed up, whether the DPR needs to form a cross-commission work committee or not," said Abduh.

"The issue of IMIP airport must be handled very seriously, we want sovereignty through economic, social, political, security and national defense interests not to be disrupted and harmed," he concluded.

Previously, the Minister of Defense (Menhan), Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that the IMIP airport that operates without state apparatus is an anomaly. According to him, the condition of the airport can cause vulnerability to sovereignty and economic stability.

"This is an anomaly in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. We have to enforce regulations, but it turns out that there are still loopholes that are vulnerable to economic sovereignty and can even affect national stability," said Sjafrie after attending the 2025 Integrated Training. TNI and other agencies in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, Thursday, November 20.

The Minister of Defense immediately moved by deploying TNI officers to guard the airport.

"Yesterday after receiving directions from the Minister of Defense, we have coordinated everything. So since then we have prepared a direct meeting of the apparatus there and then also from the TNI is alerted there and then coordination and there is already a place for our officers to guard the airport," said Central Sulawesi Governor Anwar Hamid, quoted Thursday, November 27.

Anwar said that his party continues to coordinate so that the flow of foreign workers (TKA) entering Morowali through Palu. He said the Minister of Defense had also recorded the proposal to be submitted in a meeting with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).
