MIT Group's Followers Reportedly Will Surrender, Police Insist On Cracking Down

JAKARTA - Police have not been able to confirm the news that some members of the East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT) terrorist group are planning to turn themselves in. The news will be contained.

"Yes everything is likely to happen that way there. There is an attempt to turn himself in and so on," Karo Penmas of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono told reporters on Monday, May 24.

"It has certainly been explored by members of the TNI and Police who held ops Madago Raya there," continued Rusdi.

Regardless, Rusdi said the MIT consolidation should be completed by Ops Madago Raya. So the conditions in Poso, Central Sulawesi become conducive.

"What is clear from Ops is that it is expected to solve the MIT case, Ali Kalora's groups must be resolved in poso and surrounding areas," he said.

Based on the information, the MIT Group splits in two. For the first group led by Ali Kalora with members Suhardin alias Hasan Pranata, Ahmad Gazali aka Ahmad Panjang and Rukli.

While the other group of Qatari leaders consists of Abu Alim alias Ambo, Nae alias Galuh, Askas alias So aka Pak Guru, and Jaka aka Ramadan aka Ikrima aka Rama.
