50,000 Families Resign As Recipients Of Social Assistance
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs noted that around 50,000 families chose to resign as recipients of social assistance (bansos) throughout 2025. They assess that economic conditions have improved and no longer meet the criteria as beneficiary families (KPM).
Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf explained that the trend of voluntary rejection of social assistance shows an increase in public awareness to ensure that government assistance is received by parties who are more in need.
"Right now, many people reject social assistance. They feel they have had enough and hope that their assistance will be diverted to other relatives who are more entitled," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 26.
He added that the rejection was mostly submitted through the proposal feature 'rejection in the Cek Bansos application. In addition, a number of local governments used the sticker installation initiative to say 'poor people with social assistance recipient families' at beneficiary homes as part of efforts to transparency and social supervision.
According to him, the sticker sticking policy, although reaping pros and cons, encourages openness and encourages people to report if they find an inaccurate target.

"Indeed, there is a positive impact. In Bengkulu and several areas in Central Java, the regional initiative helped ensure that social assistance recipients met the criteria. Some of them finally resigned," said Saifullah.
In addition to residents who refused social assistance, the Ministry of Social Affairs also received more than 600,000 new proposals and tens of thousands of objections to recipients deemed inappropriate. All data is forwarded to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to be verified through field checks.
