The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Riau Police handled reports of alleged criminal acts of vandalism against the Tesso Nilo National Park Task Force (TNTN) in Kenayang Hamlet Block 10, Lubuk Kembang Bunga, Ukui District, Pelalawan Regency.
The incident previously went viral on social media and caused public attention because it targeted the TNTN Balai facility which was used to secure the TNTN conservation area.
The official report was made by members of the TNTN Task Force who served at the Kenayang Command Post. Police reports were recorded with the number LP/B/488/XI/2025/Riau Police on November 25, 2025.
Dirreskrimum Polda Riau Kombes Asep Darmawan, confirmed that his party had received the report and emphasized that Ditreskrimum investigators immediately moved to handle the case.
"The report has been officially received and investigators are examining witnesses and deepening all parties suspected of being involved. There is no omission. All processes are running according to the provisions," said Kombes Asep Darmawan to reporters, Wednesday, November 26.
He explained, based on initial information, the incident occurred on Friday morning, November 21, 2025, when the reporter and his colleagues from the TNTN Task Force were in Poskotis. Then, a number of people suspected of being led by JS et al came to the location and asked officers to leave the post within one hour.
Because members of the Task Force refused and remained at the location according to the assignment warrant, the number of people grew and the situation then heated up, leading to demolition and vandalism.
The facilities damaged included five billboards, one portal, three acrylic signs, 3,000 plant seeds, one TNI AD platoon tent, one blue tent, as well as a number of documents and postal equipment.
The action not only took place at the Kenayang Poskotis, but continued to Pos 2 Kenayang which was not far from the first location.
The masses again damaged the welcome portals, signs, and gates, then transported several items using trucks. The total temporary loss is estimated at around Rp190 million.
Kombes Asep Darmawan emphasized that the act of destroying the TNTN Balai facilities, especially those in conservation areas such as TNTN, is a violation of the law that must be processed firmly.
"All vigilant actions cannot be justified. Law enforcement is carried out professionally, objectively, and transparently. Everyone involved will be held accountable," he said.
In this case, investigators applied Article 170 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 406 of the Criminal Code related to violence together in public and destruction.
Investigators are also exploring the motives, mass patterns, as well as all the recordings and evidence circulating on social media.
"Developments in case handling will be conveyed further by the Riau Police Ditreskrimum investigators," said Kombes Asep.
