Lantik 860 Guru Sekolah Rakyat, Mensos Susun Tunjangannya

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf inaugurated 860 People's School teachers at the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) Office, Salemba, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 26.

Saifullah on the occasion said that this inauguration complements the previous appointments that have been made of 1,335 teachers with the status of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK).

"With the addition of today's inauguration, the total number of teachers serving in People's Schools throughout Indonesia continues to grow to meet the needs of inclusive education services," he said, quoted by Antara.

In addition to inaugurating 860 teachers, the Minister of Social Affairs also confirmed 10 functional officials consisting of social workers, social instructors, and auditors within the People's School.

Saifullah explained that in the era of simplification of the bureaucracy, functional positions became the backbone of government services because they demanded high professionalism and technical competence in carrying out social functions.

In front of the hundreds of inauguration teachers from all over Indonesia, he emphasized that the People's School is an important instrument in providing access to education for children from vulnerable families, indigenous peoples, to those living in remote areas, so the presence of competent teachers is the key to the success of the program.

"The government is preparing to strengthen welfare support, including allowances for People's School teachers, so that they can carry out their duties optimally and sustainably," he said.

The Ministry of Social Affairs, he continued, will continue to encourage increased teacher capacity through routine training and supervision, including integration with other social empowerment programs so that education can run in line with improving the welfare of beneficiary families.

"Congratulations and immediate duty and adapt to their respective units, bringing the spirit of service and social service according to the mission to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people," he said.

People's Schools are one of President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs to provide access to free and quality education for children from poor families with the lowest welfare level (Desil 1'4) in the National Sole Social Economic Data (DTSEN).

This program is designed as an integrated poverty alleviation model because it combines various government-seeded programs such as Free Health Checks (CKG), Free Nutrition Food (MBG), PBI-JK health insurance, Red and White Village Cooperatives, and the 3 Million Houses Program for beneficiary student families.

Based on data from the Ministry of Social Affairs, there are 166 startups of People's Schools built in 2025 with a capacity of almost 16 thousand students, supported by 2,400 teachers and more than 4,000 education staff at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels or equivalent.

The Ministry of Social Affairs targets all People's Schools to be equipped with modern learning technology facilities, including digital interactive boards (IFPs), laptops with internet network access, as well as special uniforms for students, teachers, and dormitories before the end of 2025.

As for the initial stage, the 166 start-up public schools spread throughout Indonesia still use facilities belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Manpower Work Training Center, and local government-owned facilities. Then the government will build a permanent People's School building after the land acquisition process prepared by the local government is complete.
