KAI Provides 49 Million Seats, And Adds 54 Daily Trips Welcoming Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI ensures full readiness for the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) Transport Period. At Nataru this time, KAI Group provided a transport capacity of 49 million seats, or an increase of 8.9 percent compared to the previous period.

Meanwhile, KAI stipulates that the Nataru transportation period lasts for 18 days, from 18 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.

KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said the momentum of Nataru's long holiday has always been an important period for Indonesians to gather with their families and encourage business activities. Therefore, the reliability of public transportation is the main factor in maintaining smooth mobility from various regions.

"We set safety as our main goal, maintain travel performance, and increase customer comfort at all stages of travel from before departure to after arriving at the final station," he said at a press conference, in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.

Bobby also ensured that KAI services were ready to support the community to enjoy the year-end journey safely and smoothly.

"If customers need help, our officers are ready to be contacted at all service points," said Bobby.

Bobby said, this year the KAI Group provided a carrying capacity of 49,635,448 seats, an increase of 8.9 percent compared to the previous year, as well as a total of 40,493 train trips which also increased from the previous period.

"To anticipate high demand, KAI adds 54 intercity train trips per day as an additional option for customers," he said.

Bobby said support for government programs was also part of KAI's readiness. Together with DJKA, KAI again held Free Motorcycle Transportation (Motis) with a capacity of 5,568 motorcycles and 12,720 passengers.

This program runs from 23 to 30 December 2025 and 2 to 5 January 2026, with registrations opening December 1, 2025 to 4 January 2026 at 14 designated stations.

"In addition, KAI provides a 30 percent discount for commercial economy class travel, with a quota of 1,509,080 customers for 156 regular trains and 26 additional trains," he said.

Bobby said KAI also prepared a comprehensive series of technical and operational strengthening. Ramp check with DJKA is carried out in all operating areas, including the inspection of Minimum Service Standards on facilities and stations.

"The inspection of the route through the Inspection Train will be carried out on December 2'4, 2025 to ensure the readiness of the rail and all infrastructure components before the peak of the trip," he explained.

To support the smooth operation, KAI deployed 2,483 additional officers which included lane inspectors, crossing guards, security officers, customer service, and cleanliness.

"Infrastructure strengthening is carried out through the installation of 84,525 meters of new rails which also improve the quality and stability of travel," he said.
