Ensure Safe Stock, Badanas Strengthen Distribution To Papua

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) ensures that strategic food stocks remain safe towards the end of 2025, while strengthening rice distribution, especially to eastern Indonesia, which still records prices above the national average.

Director of Supervision of the Implementation of Security and Food Quality, Hermawan, said that based on weekly monitoring results, rice prices finally showed signs of improvement at the national level.

The price of medium and premium rice showed a national decline as of November 22, 2025. Medium rice was recorded at Rp13,506 per kg, down 0.50 percent from the previous day. Premium rice also moves down, which is 0.84 percent," said Hermawan in an official statement, Tuesday, November 25.

Even so, Hermawan said that Bapanas continues to take stabilization steps, especially in zone 3 (east Indonesia region) whose rice prices are still relatively higher than the average price in zones 1 and 2.

"We prioritize the distribution of Food Distribution (FDP) and the distribution of SPHP Rice to the East, especially Papua. This effort is aimed at reducing prices that are still far above the national average, including through optimizing filical warehouses in all districts/cities until December 2025," he said.

In addition to rice, Badanas also strengthens stabilization measures for commodities that are prone to triggering inflation such as corn, red cayenne pepper, and shallots.

For horticultural commodities, control is carried out through collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, local governments at production centers, as well as strengthening the cold chain ecosystem to maintain quality and supply.

Hermawan also ensured that the availability of chicken meat and eggs was safe. This is in line with the direction of Bapanas Head Andi Amran Sulaiman, that meeting the needs of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) will involve BUMP and food SOEs so as not to interfere with supply for the public market.

Hermawan conveyed six steps for stabilization that Bapanas continues to move. Starting from real-time price monitoring by 1,053 enumerators, strengthening the database of the Food Price Panel, to the FDP which has reached 651,925 kg to cut the distribution chain.

The distribution of SPHP Rice also continues to be accelerated and has reached 624,000 tons, or 41.62 percent of the allocation from January to December 2025. The intervention in the price of feed corn is also carried out to keep the cost of producing farmers stable.

Meanwhile, the distribution of rice food aid continues, with the realization of the October 'November 2025 allocation which has reached 5,471 tons.

In addition, the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) is increasingly massive, and the Food Kiosk is strengthened as a direct distribution point for SPHP products so that it is easier for people to get a fair price.

"Hot along with all stakeholders will continue to work to ensure that every citizen gets sufficient and affordable food access, especially in the outermost region, towards the end of the year," concluded Hermawan.
