Facing Nataru's Spike, ASDP Strengthens Ferizy And Delaying System On Three Main Tracks

JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) ensures that all crossing services on the three main routes of Sumatra, Java and Bali are ready to face the peak mobility of Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026. Strengthening the digitization of Ferizy and delaying systems is two key strategies for controlling vehicle flow which are predicted to continue to increase.

ASDP Director of Operations & Transformation, Rio Lasse said the operational challenges this year are increasingly complex as people's travel patterns continue to change. Therefore, all crossing current management must be responsive, fast, and data-based.

"Digitalization of tickets via Ferizy allows current management since departure from home, not when the vehicle arrives at the port. This is the key to maintaining smoothness and safety," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, November 25.

In addition to tightening restrictions on ticket purchase areas to prevent illegal queues, continued Rio, ASDP is also expanding the delaying system which is strengthened through vehicle support in rest areas and arterial sections before entering Merak and Bakauheni ports.

For the Merak' Bakauheni track, ASDP coordinates with KSOP and operates up to 47 ships at peak. This capacity is capable of serving around 25,000 vehicles per day through the seven prepared piers.

"The main dermagas on this track have also been strengthened, including additional ports such as BBJ Bojonegara and Ciwandan which are alerted as complements in addition to Merak Port and Bakauheni Port, in order to facilitate the distribution of vehicle and logistics flows," he said,

Meanwhile, on the Ketapang 'Gilimanuk track, ASDP together with regulators prepared between 28 and 33 ships according to field needs in the face of the surge in Nataru. These ships serve an active crossing between Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi and Gilimanuk Port in Bali, and are supported by an increase in dock facilities.

"For example, the addition of one LCM pier (Landing Craft Mechanical) in Gilimanuk which increases the capacity to around 2,000 small vehicles," he said.

On the Ketapang 'Gilimanuk strategic route, ASDP also supports the government's strategy to limit the movement of three-axis and upper-axis goods vehicles from 19 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.

Priority arrangements are given to motorbikes, small vehicles, and buses that have higher travel sensitivity. Several buffer zones such as Sri Tanjung Terminal, Grand Watu Dodol, UPPKB Cekik and Siwi Rambut are alerted to withstand congestion before entering the port.

Rio added that part of the logistics flow will be diverted to Lombok via the Anchor and Sheet ports to reduce land current pressure in Bali, which has been one of the largest density points during Nataru.

On the other hand, said Rio, the safety SOP was tightened in response to predictions of extreme weather by the BMKG, especially the potential for strong winds and high waves that often occur in the Bali Strait at the end of the year.

Rio said facing weather challenges, travel spikes, and the need for supply chains that still have to run, ASDP maximizes all available resources. Starting from fleet readiness, HR management, Ferizy digital system, as well as real-time monitoring at every movement node.

"Coordination across agencies continues in the field to ensure a quick response when operational dynamics occur," he said.

With this comprehensive readiness, ASDP is optimistic that crossing services during Nataru 2026 will run safely, smoothly, and under control throughout the key track of Sumatra' Java' Bali.

"ASDP stands at the forefront to provide a safe and comfortable journey for the community. We continue to strengthen coordination and services so that public mobility and logistics distribution run without obstacles," Rio concluded.
