In The First Month, The Police Reform Commission Received More Than 100 Audience Letters From The Public
JAKARTA - The National Police Reform Acceleration Commission received more than 100 hearing letters from various community groups in the first month of the commission's formation.
"This first month we will finish it first. There are approximately more than 100 groups that have written," said Head of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission Jimly Asshiddiqie at the Ministry of State Secretariat, Jakarta, Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.
He conveyed that the letters contained requests for hearings and input from various community groups related to police reform.
Jimly explained that the incoming aspirations will be grouped into two categories, namely issues that require future policy reforms and operational reports related to certain cases.
"So there are two kinds. In the future, there will be a policy reform, that's one group, the second is about the operational case," he said.
For reports that are considered reasonable and relevant, said Jumly, the commission will provide recommendations to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo who is also a member of the commission to be followed up.

According to Jimly, the opening of the public participation space in the first month of the work of the Police Reform Acceleration Commission was the right step because various groups of people wanted to send their views on reform within the law enforcement apparatus.
In the second month, he said, the commission will start choosing the direction of reform policies that are deemed necessary and have the potential to change a number of provisions in the law.
Jimly added that the formulation of draft law changes is scheduled to take place in the third month, so that police reform policy formats and directions are targeted to be prepared by the end of January 2026.
"In the second month, we chose roughly what kind of reform policy would end up changing the law. The formulation of the law will be in the third month. So we can prepare what kind of format and policy direction for police reform, " he said.
