The Public Believes In Firefighters More, Commission III Of The DPR Asks The Police To Improve
JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR RI, Abdullah highlighted the phenomenon of the community who recently preferred to contact firefighters (damkar) rather than report to the police when facing various problems.
He asked the National Police to conduct evaluations and improvements, especially in responding to public reports.
"When people feel that the report has been ignored or the process is complicated, they will look for other institutions that are considered more responsive. The fact that the Damkar is the first choice for various problems that are actually in the realm of the police shows something is wrong and needs to be addressed," Abdullah told reporters, Tuesday, November 25.

He also considered that the increasing public trust in the Damkar was not only due to the professionalism of the institution, but also because of the reluctance of people to deal with the police due to previous bad experiences.
People are finally reluctant to report to the police. They prefer to report to the fire department because they feel they are being handled more quickly. This should be an introspection for the Police," he said.
Therefore, Abdullah urged the National Police to continue to improve, improve the public service system, increase responses to public reports, and strengthen the integrity of the apparatus in the field. According to him, restoring public trust can only be done through concrete actions and ongoing improvements.
"I encourage the Police to make structural and cultural improvements. Public trust is the main capital of law enforcement institutions. This is not just criticism, but an invitation to improve for the sake of better service to the community," Abdullah said.
