Puan Asks The DPR Commission To Evaluate 3T Health Services After Pregnant Women Are Rejected By Papua Hospital
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, expressed her concern over the news that a pregnant woman was rejected by four hospitals in Papua, before finally dying with her child. Puan will ask the relevant commissions in the Indonesian House of Representatives to evaluate health care in the 3T area or underdeveloped, frontier and outermost areas.
"The DPR is also concerned and of course this is very concerned and will ask the relevant commission to evaluate the implementation of these matters related to health care, which especially occurs in the 3T area. Don't let it happen again," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.
According to Puan, sad events that have happened to pregnant women such as in Papua have often occurred. Therefore, he appreciated President Prabowo Subianto's steps in ordering the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, to conduct an audit of hospitals in Papua Province.
"This has happened many times. I received reports that even today the President held a special meeting related to this," said Puan.
Puan also encouraged audits of hospitals not only to be carried out in Papua, but also to evaluate health services in other remote areas.
"We ask the Ministry of Health in particular, to be able to evaluate health care in hospitals until there are people who are then not handled, especially in the 3T area," he concluded.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto ordered through the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, to conduct an audit of hospitals in Papua Province, in response to reports of a pregnant woman being rejected by four hospitals before finally dying.
After holding a limited meeting with President Prabowo, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian reported that his party had asked the Governor of Papua, Mathius Derek Fakhiri, to visit the victim's house, as well as provide assistance.
"His order to immediately improve the audit. Conduct an internal audit of the problem is where. Collect the hospitals, including officials at the Health Service and others, both provinces, districts and private hospitals," Tito said when giving a statement at the Presidential Palace. Jakarta, Monday, November 24.
Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin and a team from the Ministry of Home Affairs have also been in Jayapura today to immediately conduct a hospital audit.
Tito explained that the audit conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs would include existing regulations, including regional head regulations.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health Budi has also sent a special team to conduct technical audits on health service issues, to find out the main problem and immediately make improvements, both in terms of facilities, governance, human resources or the rules.
Based on the information gathered, Yowari Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Jayapura Regency, Papua Province confirmed that it had handled patients according to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), following public attention to the case of the death of a pregnant woman from Hobong Village.
Director of Yowari Hospital, drg. Maryen Braweri said that his party had coordinated with the Papua Provincial Health Office. As a result, the team will investigate this case.
