Trump Officially Cap Ikhwanul Muslimin As A Global Terrorist Organization

JAKARTA - President of the United States (US) Donald Trump has designated branches of Ikhwanul Muslimin as foreign terrorist organizations.

Quoting AFP, Tuesday, November 25, Ikhwanul Muslimin is known to be one of the oldest and most influential in the world of Arabia.

The designation was official after Trump signed an executive order ordering US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to submit reports on branches of Ikhwanul Muslimin in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan on Monday, November 25.

In the executive's order, the two ministers were given a deadline for submitting reports within 45 days.

The Trump administration accuses the factions of Ikhwanul Muslimin in Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan of supporting or encouraging violent attacks against Israel and US partners. It is even said to provide material support to the Palestinian independence support group, Hamas.

"President Trump is facing the transnational network Ikhwanul Muslimin, which has sparked terrorism and a destabilization campaign against US interests and allies in the Middle East," according to a White House fact sheet containing the executive's order.

The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Egypt in the 1920s as an Islamic political movement to counter the spread of secular and nationalist ideas.

The movement quickly spread to Muslim countries, becoming main players, but often operating in secret.
