Reviewing The Aceh War Exhibition, Menbud Reveals The Importance Of History As Collective Awareness
BANDA ACEH - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon inspected the exhibition 'Aceh War Against Dutch Colonials 1873'1903' in Gunongan Park, Monday (24/11). This exhibition is a space for public education to understand one of the most heroic rounds in the history of Aceh and Indonesia.
The exhibition, which was held by the Region I Cultural Preservation Center, featured original artifacts of the Aceh War, ranging from war tools, documents, to clerical manuscripts. Menbud Fadli said the quality of the exhibition was very strong because the narrative was sequenced and his collection was relevant to the memory of Aceh's struggle.
"I thank MAPESA for presenting enlightening artifacts. This is not just an art exhibition, but a very important historical study room," said Fadli.
He emphasized that the Aceh War Against Dutch Colonials 18731903 was a symbol of resistance to colonialism. According to him, understanding the chronology of the war visually will build awareness of the younger generation about the importance of defending sovereignty.
"Seeing artifacts directly makes history more lively. In one room alone we can understand the events of the Aceh war in chronological terms from a sensitive Indonesia perspective," he explained.
