Prabowo Asks To Anticipate Inflation To Support MBG
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto received a report from the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. The President asked to anticipate commodities that could trigger inflation to support the priority program for Free Nutrition Food (MBG).
In a limited meeting chaired by President Prabowo, the Minister of Home Affairs reported that the current inflation rate is at the level of 2.86 percent (year on year).
"This means that it is quite well controlled, especially the food sector is also a balancer for deflation," Tito said in a statement at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, November 24, as reported by ANTARA.
Tito explained that the rice commodity, which was previously a concern, is now showing significant improvement and is out of the order of the problematic food list. In fact, a number of areas that have experienced a decline in rice prices are increasing.
According to Tito, the decrease in rice prices was achieved thanks to the Minister of Agriculture, as well as the Head of the National Food Agency Amran Sulaiman who also collaborated with Bulog, as well as local governments.
However, Tito reported an increase in shallots, chilies, and a little on broiler eggs, which need to be anticipated, especially to support the MBG program.
"What is going up a bit is shallots, chilies, then a little chicken eggs. Now this is what needs to supply, especially the MBG program," he said.
In addition, the Minister of Home Affairs also conveyed the development of regional economic growth which was discussed periodically with the President.
The highest regional economic growth comes from North Maluku, while areas experiencing a contraction in economic growth or minus, namely Central Papua due to the delay in exports from PT Freeport.
"He asked why the cause, including because of exports from Freeport that were detained, there was a smelter that had caught fire, then there was a landslide where their production became restrained. That resulted in Central Papua's economic growth, Timika, experiencing a contraction of minus 8 percent," he said.
