KKP Captures 294 Fishing Thief Vessels, Potential Loss Reaches IDR 3.68 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) arrested 294 fishing vessels as of November 2025.

Of the total, there are 22 Foreign Fishing Vessels (KIA) and 272 ships originating from Indonesia.

In detail, as many as 11 KIA came from the Philippines, 5 ships from Vietnam, 5 ships from Malaysia and 1 ship from China.

From the arrest of 294 ships, the potential valuation that was rescued by the KKP reached IDR 3.592 trillion.

In addition, the KKP has also brought order to 121 illegal households with a potential valuation that was saved of around Rp. 96.8 billion.

Thus, the total potential loss to the state that has been saved has reached more than IDR 3 trillion.

Minister of KP Sakti Wahyu Trenggono revealed this in a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission IV of the DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 24.

"From IUU fishing activities in Indonesian marine waters, (KKP) has succeeded in capturing 294 illegal fishing vessels and 121 illegal clumps with a potential valuation of state losses saved worth Rp3.68 trillion," said Trenggono.

Previously, the Directorate General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervisory (PSDKP) of the KKP assessed that illegal fishing is not just a theft of fish, but an activity that can threaten the sustainability of the Indonesian marine ecosystem.

Not only that, illegal fishing also has an impact on state losses.

"This practice also threatens the livelihoods of local fishermen and the future of our children and grandchildren," explained PSDKP quoted from its official Instagram @ditjenpsdkp, Wednesday, September 17.
