Indonesia Gets Two Titles From The 2025 ASEAN School Games

JAKARTA The Indonesian badminton team won success in bringing home two titles from the ASEAN School Games 2025 team event which took place at Brunei Darussalam on November 21-24, 2025.

Indonesia won two gold medals from the men's team and the women's team in the final which took place on Monday, November 24, 2025. The men's team won 3-0 over Malaysia and the women's team finished Thailand 3-1.

"The fighting spirit of the children is very good even though they are from several clubs, but as a team they are united in fighting for Indonesia," said Ellen Angelina as the coach who accompanied the Indonesian team.

From the men's team, the points of Indonesia's victory were contributed by the men's singles Denis Azzarya who defeated Muhammad Nur Azhar Zunaide with a score of 21-16 and 21-16.

Furthermore, Anju Siahaan/Faizal Pangestu beat Daniel Tan Ying Enn Tan/Muhammad Luqman Hakim Yusof Daneel with a score of 21-11 and 21-15 and Fardhan Rainanda Joe defeated Kashah Bin Khairul Azlan 21-15 and 21-12.

"The development of badminton in ASEAN students itself is quite good and evenly distributed. For men, Indonesia seems quite dominant," said Ellen.

As for the women's team, Indonesia was forced to rise from behind to stop Thailand after Jolin Angelia, who took part in the first match, lost two games 16-21 and 18-21 against Tonrug Saeheng.

Three points of Indonesia's successive victory were contributed by Selsi Josika/Yasintha Ristyna Putri who won over Aphichaya Wannasupphaphon/Thipchira Chaiwitworakhun with a score of 21-13 and 21-13.

Furthermore, the women's singles Christabel Calista Purwanto defeated Ratnacha Sompoch which ended with a score of 21-18 and 21-13 and women's doubles Atresia Naufa Candani/Aurelia Syakira Putri overthrowing Majeletida Chosuwanchart/Surada Vechpanich with a final score of 21-19 and 21-14.

The struggle of the Indonesian badminton team has not been completed. Fardhan Rainanda and his friends will then play in the individual number which starts on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

In the 2025 ASEAN School Games, Indonesia sent 152 student athletes who will compete in a number of sports, such as athletics, badminton, wushu, swimming, pencak silat, basketball, and takraw.
