Not Free, Twitter Space Will Have Subscription Fees

JAKARTA - Social media network Twitter seems serious about overtaking the Clubhouse's lineup of audio chat apps. Because, Twitter has just announced a payment system for space features that was recently released.

Launching Slashgear, Monday, May 24, Space is one step ahead of the Clubhouse which is still experimenting with its payment system. Therefore, Twitter does not hesitate to launch a variety of new features for Space.

Dubbed Ticketed Space, it's a payment system that allows users to host more exclusive audio events, where listeners must purchase tickets in advance to join.

Hosts will receive 80 percent of ticket sales revenue, after being cut in platform fees by Apple and Google. This means that if the price of one ticket is 10 US dollars, the event owner will receive 5.6 US dollars per ticket.

Later, the payment system will be handled by Stripe payment service, and become the responsibility of transaction fees in the service. Thus, anyone who wants to hold an event in Space paid or wants to join, must have a Stripe account first.

Reports are circulating, Ticketed Space is currently still under testing and can only be hosted by a handful of users in the US. However, anyone can join and pay for tickets.

Meanwhile, there is also a Super Follows feature that is intended for Twitter users to be able to subscribe with certain accounts for exclusive content. This feature is part of the plan.

Previously reported, Twitter is developing a paid service called Twitter Blue. Chances are, Ticketed Space will integrate with Twitter Blue, and expand the app's monetization plan.
