Asked By Prabowo To Fight Illegal Mines, Defense Minister Sjafrie: State Present, Control

JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin was asked by President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen law enforcement in order to take action against illegal mining actors.

The order was issued in a meeting between Sjafrie, Prabowo and several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, Sunday, November 23.

"I along with the relevant Ministries and Institutions ensure that all law enforcement measures are integrated, measurable, and sustainable," wrote Sjafrie's official Instagram account @sjafrie.sjamsoeddin quoted by Antara in Jakarta, Monday, November 24.

In the text uploaded by the account, it is explained that President Prabowo Subianto reiterated the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution which contains the following: The Earth, water, and natural wealth contained in it are controlled by the state and used as much as possible for the prosperity of the people.

Under the mandate of the president's law and order, Sjafrie is committed by the Ministry of Defense and all relevant ministries to be indiscriminate in eradicating illegal mining practices.

His party, continued Sjafrie, ensured that all legal processes related to illegal mining would run fairly, starting from arrests, investigations, investigations to entering the realm of court.

"There should be no room for illegal practices that damage the environment, rob the country of rights, and hinder national development," said Sjafrie.

With this firm and measurable action, Sjafrie believes that legal action will be carried out consistently in order to create legal natural resource management for the benefit of the community.

"The state is present, the state is disciplined, and the state ensures that every inch of natural wealth returns to the people of Indonesia," said Sjafrie.

To note, Sjafrie has just monitored the joint TNI training held in Bangka Belitung and Morowali, Central Sulawesi which was held last week.

The exercise was held to sharpen the TNI's ability to monitor and take action against illegal mining practices in Indonesia. The TNI also deliberately held exercises in the two places because illegal mining practices often occur in the area.
