Fajar/Fikri Glad To See Raymond/Nikolaus Win Australian Open 2025

JAKARTA Men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri are happy to see their junior Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin managed to win the Australian Open 2025.

Raymond/Nikolaus took the highest podium in the BWF Super 500 level event after defeating Fajar/Fikri in a fierce match of three games 22-20, 10-21, and 21-18 on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

"The result was not as expected, we were runners-up again. We must be disappointed, but we must still be grateful, especially seeing our junior appearance Raymond/Joaquin in this tournament," said Fajar.

On the way to winning the title in Australia, Raymond/Nikolaus recorded a three-seeded defeat, including Fajar/Fikri who are the fifth seed.

The other two seeds they managed to stop were Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee (third seed) and Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin (second seed), both from Malaysia.

This performance is quite impressive because they came in this tournament as debutants at the Super 500 BWF level. Earlier earlier this year, the couple were even still playing on the national circuit.

"Not only did we beat us, but since the first half managed to beat the superior pair, it was extraordinary. Their development is very fast," said Fajar.

Before becoming champions in Australia, the Raymond/Nikolaus pair became runners-up at the Korea Masters 2025, a tournament leveled Super 300 BWF.

Overall, Raymond/Nikolaus won six titles in this year's calendar. They won Singapore International Challenge, Sri Lanka International Challenge, Luxembourg Open (International Series), and Denmark Challenge.

Raymond/Joaquin then rose to a higher level of tournament. They can win the Indonesia Masters II title which is a Super 100 category tournament.
